Personalised CNC Pet Plaque
An Engraved Pet Memorial
We made this personalised CNC pet plaque for a much-loved dog named Mayo. We crafted it from solid oak and engraved it using precision CNC technology. It is a great example of how fine detail can be captured beautifully in wood. Overall, the result is a unique pet memorial that feels personal, considered and long-lasting.
Design & Material Preparation
We started by selecting a premium solid oak board. Oak is a brilliant choice for an engraved pet plaque. It is warm, strong and has a natural character that suits this kind of piece really well.
Next, we digitally prepared Mayo’s portrait and refined it carefully for CNC engraving. This step is important, as it ensures every detail translates clearly into the wood. Then, we secured the oak to our SmartBench CNC router and aligned it precisely for a clean, accurate cut.
CNC Engraving & Resin Detail
Our CNC router engraved the portrait with fine-line precision, capturing Mayo’s expression with a level of accuracy that is hard to achieve any other way. After that, we filled the recessed areas with black resin to add depth and definition.
The contrast between the natural oak and the smooth resin finish is what really brings the design to life. In fact, it is a good balance between craftsmanship and technology, and the result speaks for itself.
Hand Finishing & Final Product
Once the resin had cured, we hand-sanded the plaque and applied a natural protective oil. This enhances the oak’s grain and gives the piece a clean, considered finish. Finally, we added a decorative moulded edge to complete the design.
The finished piece is a timeless engraved wooden pet memorial. It is personal, elegant and made to honour a beloved companion in a way that feels genuinely special.
