Commercial Butchers Fit-Out in March, Cambridgeshire
Meat Prep Room Build and Commercial Internal Fit-Out
We completed a commercial fit out for a busy butchers in March, Cambridgeshire. The project created a new meat preparation room inside the existing shop. The business stayed open throughout the build, so every stage had to be carefully planned. We managed the project from the first structural alterations through to the finished hygiene wall installation. Later, we returned to carry out further improvements that made the workspace more practical and efficient.

The Brief
The client wanted to create additional food preparation space that would work seamlessly alongside the existing shop. The new room needed to be durable, easy to clean and suitable for everyday use. At the same time, the business had to remain open, so every stage of the food prep room fit out needed careful planning around normal trading.
Following the first phase of work, the client invited us back to improve access between two areas of the building. The aim was to create a smoother workflow for staff while making better use of the available space.

The Approach
After surveying the building, we planned the project around the client’s working day to keep disruption to a minimum.
First, we formed new stud walls inside the existing brick building to create the new meat prep room. We also built new access steps between levels, installed a door lining and fixed 11 mm OSB sheeting to provide a strong base for the internal finish. By completing the structural work first, we created a solid foundation for the next stage of the fit-out while keeping the programme running smoothly.

The Installation
With the structure in place, we completed the hygiene wall installation throughout the new preparation room. The white food-safe wall cladding provides a smooth, durable surface that is easy to clean and well suited to a busy commercial environment. The butchers remained open throughout the project, so we carefully planned each stage around the client’s day-to-day operations. As a result, the business continued trading safely while work progressed.
During the second phase, we knocked through an existing doorway to improve access between two areas of the building. We also removed a sink unit, built a new stud wall, installed additional hygiene cladding and constructed a bespoke storage cupboard. Together, these improvements created a cleaner, more practical workspace without interrupting the running of the business.

The Finished Result
The new commercial kitchen fit out provides the business with a practical food preparation area that works efficiently alongside the existing shop. The dedicated prep room offers durable, hygienic surfaces designed for everyday use, while the later alterations improve movement throughout the building and make day-to-day tasks more efficient.
By combining commercial carpentry, structural alterations and food-safe wall cladding, we delivered a commercial internal fit out that supports the business today and allows it to grow in the future.
