Oak Acoustic Feature Wall & Bespoke Living Room Joinery in St Neots
A Bespoke Oak Acoustic Feature Wall, Custom TV Plinth and Console Table
We designed and installed a bespoke oak acoustic feature wall, custom TV plinth and matching console table for a home in St Neots, Cambridgeshire. The clients wanted to improve the acoustics of their new living room while adding warmth, texture and practical storage. However, they didn’t want a full media wall. Instead, they wanted a feature that felt lighter and more open. We built the TV plinth and console table in our Cambridgeshire workshop before carefully installing them alongside the oak-faced wall panelling. The result is a stylish living room feature that improves the acoustics while adding character and everyday practicality.

The Brief
The clients had recently finished renovating their living room. Although they were happy with the space, they felt it lacked warmth and character.
The room had a relatively short TV wall, so a full media wall wasn’t the right solution. Instead, they wanted an acoustic feature wall that would create a focal point without making the room feel enclosed. At the same time, they wanted to reduce echo and improve sound quality.
They asked us to install slatted acoustic wall panels, build a bespoke TV cabinet plinth to raise their existing cabinet and create a matching bespoke console table behind the sofa. Most importantly, every element needed to work together and suit the contemporary style of their home.

Our Approach
After visiting the property and taking detailed measurements, we designed each element to work together as one complete feature rather than three separate pieces.
The clients wanted to improve the acoustics without overwhelming the room, so creating the right balance was key. We carefully considered the proportions of the TV wall, the existing furniture and the available space before finalising the design. As a result, the feature adds warmth, texture and practicality while keeping the room feeling open.
To achieve a consistent finish, we built the plinth and console table in our Cambridgeshire workshop before bringing everything to site for installation.

The Installation
With the plinth and table prepared in our workshop, installation took just one day.
First, we fitted the oak-faced slatted acoustic wall panels, carefully aligning each one to create clean vertical lines across the full height of the wall.
Next, we installed the bespoke TV cabinet plinth, giving the existing cabinet a more balanced appearance beneath the television while concealing the support structure.
Finally, we fitted the matching oak console table behind the sofa, making sure it sat neatly within the available space and complemented the rest of the design.

The Finished Result
The finished project transformed a plain white wall into a warm and welcoming focal point. The oak wall panelling adds texture while helping improve the acoustics of the room. At the same time, the raised TV cabinet and matching console table create a balanced design that feels like part of the original home rather than a later addition.
By combining quality materials with made-to-measure joinery, we created a practical living room feature that’s designed for everyday family life while adding warmth, character and lasting quality.
