Four-Car Garage Built for Secure Storage
We built this four-car timber garage in March, Cambridgeshire. The client needed secure vehicle storage without it looking out of place next to the property. The structure needed to allow easy access for multiple vehicles, so getting the proportions right was just as important as the build itself. The aim was to create a solid timber garage that would last, look right on the plot, and work properly in day-to-day use.
Planning & Layout for a Garage
With a garage of this size, layout is critical. Before any timber went up, we carried out a detailed site assessment to make sure everything lined up properly with access and surrounding space. We considered vehicle access, door clearance and working space before preparing the site for construction.
Timber Structure & Framework
The garage was built using pressure-treated structural timber throughout. We constructed the main frame using 4×2 studwork, fixed it to solid soleplates and anchored it securely. Everything was built on site to suit the exact size required, allowing for a better fit and stronger overall build.
Cladding and External Finish
We finished the garage with shiplap timber cladding to give it a consistent look. We fixed all boards using stainless steel nails to avoid rust staining over time. This is a small detail but makes a difference once the building has been exposed to the weather for a few years.
The final result is a timber garage with enough room for four vehicles without it feeling cramped. The layout allows easy movement in and out and gives the client additional space for general storage.
