This personalised oak pet plaque was commissioned in memory of a much-loved dog named Mayo. Crafted from solid oak and engraved using precision CNC technology, it shows how fine detail can be captured beautifully in wood. The result is a unique pet memorial that’s both meaningful and built to last.
Design & Material Preparation
We began by selecting a premium solid oak board for its strength, warmth and natural character. Next, we digitally prepared Mayo’s portrait, carefully refining it for CNC engraving. This step ensured that every detail would translate clearly into wood. Once the design was ready, we secured the oak to the SmartBench CNC router, aligning it precisely for a clean, accurate cut.
CNC Engraving & Resin Detail
Our CNC router engraved the portrait with fine-line precision, capturing Mayo’s expression with incredible accuracy. After engraving, we filled the recessed areas with black resin to add depth and definition. The contrast between the natural oak and smooth resin finish brought the design to life, a perfect balance of craftsmanship and technology.
Hand Finishing & Final Product
Once the resin had cured, we hand-sanded the plaque and finished it with a natural protective oil to enhance the oak’s rich grain. A decorative moulded edge completed the design. The final piece is a timeless engraved wooden pet memorial that is personal, elegant and made to honour a beloved companion.
