Bespoke Dog Gate Installation in Cambridgeshire
Seamless Home Integration
This project involved designing, building and installing a set of bespoke oak dog gates within a home in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire. Rather than using off-the-shelf gates, each one was made to measure and fitted properly within the space. Our aim was to create something that worked practically day to day, while also sitting comfortably alongside the home’s existing interior.

Preparation & Bespoke Joinery
We designed each gate around the specific space it was going into, ensuring a clean fit and consistent finish throughout the property. We started with rough-sawn timber and shaped it to size, using traditional mortise and tenon joinery to form strong, long-lasting frames.
Two of the gates included oak-veneered panels with solid oak rails, helping them tie in with the rest of the interior joinery.

Glass Integration & Detailing
For the stair gate, we added a custom toughened glass panel to keep the space feeling open while still providing a secure barrier. The combination of oak and glass works well in open-plan areas, allowing light to pass through without compromising on safety. The glass was secured with polished chrome clamps, details like this help the gates feel like part of the home.

Installation & Finishing Touches
We installed each gate on solid oak posts for added strength and a consistent look. We chose polished chrome hinges and sliding bolts to match the home’s existing hardware and ensure smooth function. The result is a set of polished, handcrafted internal dog gates that offer both practicality and high-quality craftsmanship.
