Get in Touch About Your Media Wall.

What is a Media Wall?

A media wall is a full feature wall built around your television. It is much more than a TV unit. A well-designed media wall brings together storage, display space and modern technology into one considered, built-in design.

Depending on what you need, it can include shelving, cupboards, LED lighting and even a fireplace. When it is designed and built by skilled joiners rather than assembled from off-the-shelf parts, it genuinely transforms a room.

Media Wall Installation Across Cambridgeshire

We install bespoke media walls for homeowners across Cambridgeshire. Our work covers Peterborough, Huntingdon, Cambridge, Ely, March, St Neots, Chatteris and the surrounding areas. Every installation is designed and built around the specific room, so whether you are in a modern new build or an older property, the finished result feels part of the house rather than added to it.

Each media wall installation begins with a conversation about your room, your television and how you want the space to work. We take measurements, develop a design and build everything in our Cambridgeshire workshop before installing on site. If you are searching for a media wall installer in Cambridgeshire, the most important factor is finding somebody who can design, build and install the wall as a complete project.

Why Are Media Walls Are So Popular Right Now?

More people are investing in their current homes rather than moving, and a media wall is one of the most impactful changes you can make to a living room without a full renovation.

In our experience working with homeowners across Cambridgeshire and surrounding areas, enquiries for media wall installation have grown steadily over the past few years. Many homeowners see media walls as an alternative to freestanding furniture because they combine entertainment, storage and bespoke joinery into a single feature. People want something that looks considered, works properly day to day and lasts. That is exactly where bespoke joinery and a proper installation process makes the difference.

What to Think About Before You Start

If you are considering a media wall, it helps to work through a few things early. Doing so makes the design process much smoother and means you end up with something that genuinely suits how you live. Here are a few points to think about:

  • What size is your TV and how do you want it positioned on the wall?
  • For storage, do you want closed cupboards, open shelving, drawers or a combination?
  • Do you want it to feel modern and minimal, warm and traditional or something in between?
  • Would you like LED lighting built in, or is a fireplace something you have been considering?
  • Would built-in joinery help create a cleaner and more permanent finish?

None of these need to be finalised before you speak to someone but having a rough idea makes the initial conversation much easier.

Bespoke vs. Off-the-Shelf — What is the Difference?

There are off-the-shelf media wall systems available and for some homes they work fine. However, for most spaces they involve compromises like fixed sizes, limited finishes and a look that feels assembled rather than built-in.

A bespoke media wall is designed around your specific room, your television and your storage needs. So, it fits properly, uses materials suited to the space and becomes a feature that feels like part of your home. This is often why homeowners looking into media walls ultimately choose a bespoke solution. A made-to-measure installation makes better use of the available space and creates a result that feels part of the property.

Media Wall with Fireplace in Chatteris

One of our recent projects was a bespoke media wall for a kitchen-diner in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire. The design included a fireplace, which adds a layer of complexity around fire safety.

We built the structure using non-combustible metal studwork and FireLine plasterboard to meet current building standards. Then we added solid oak trims, bespoke cupboard doors and soft LED lighting throughout. The project is a good example of the design and construction considerations involved when installing a media wall with a fireplace.

A Note on Fireplace Media Walls

If your design includes a fireplace, it is important that the structure is built correctly. This means using fire-rated materials and following current building standards. A qualified media wall carpenter should be able to explain exactly how fire-rated materials, ventilation and clearances have been incorporated into the design. It is worth asking any contractor you speak to about the specific materials and methods they use. A properly built fireplace media wall is completely safe and long-lasting, one that cuts corners on fire safety is not.
