Tool Shop Refurbishment
March, Cambridgeshire
We completed a full carpentry and joinery package for a tool shop refurbishment in March, Cambridgeshire. From the outset, we focused on durability, layout efficiency and a fast turnaround. Because the shop had a fixed opening date, we worked to a strict deadline while maintaining high build standards.
As a result, the business opened on time with a practical, well-structured retail space ready for daily trade.

Shop Front Installation
First, we constructed and installed a new timber shop front to frame the entrance and integrate securely with the existing roller shutters.
We built the structural timber framework on site, ensuring it aligned with the opening. Then, we fitted plywood panels and framed window sections to create a clean, professional façade.
Because first impressions matter in retail, we focused on clean lines, strong detailing and long-term durability.
Consequently, the shop now presents a more defined and structured frontage while maintaining security and functionality.

Retail Counters & Display Wall
Next, we manufactured and installed a series of custom-built MDF counters with durable laminate tops. We designed each counter to withstand heavy commercial use.
Behind the counter, we integrated practical storage to keep tools and stock organised. In addition, we made the units wide enough for two servers to work comfortably at the same time.
To improve product display and organisation, we also installed a fixed slat wall storage system. This system allows flexible merchandising while maintaining a clean and structured appearance.
The layout now supports efficient staff operation and the shop can easily adapt displays as stock changes throughout the year.

Mezzanine Floor & Structural Support
Then, we constructed the structural framework for a mezzanine level to increase usable floor space. To achieve this, we installed structural timber joists and laid chipboard flooring to create a strong, stable upper level.
We then built a timber staircase on site to provide secure access to the mezzanine floor. We constructed the staircase to suit the existing layout and maximise available space..
As a result, we ensured the structure provided safe and long-term support and the shop gained valuable additional without expanding its footprint.

Delivering on a Commercial Deadline
Retail refurbishments require careful sequencing and clear communication. Throughout the project, we coordinated our carpentry and joinery works efficiently so that progress remained on track.
The opening date was fixed so timing was critical. However, by planning each stage carefully and working methodically, we completed all works within the required timeframe.
As a result, the business launched as scheduled with no delays.
“I have used KMP services on many occasions over the last twenty years. I have used them for work on both my business premises and home. They are very professional in their approach and their knowledge is vast. I would definitely recommend them, as they are 100% trustworthy, I just give them my keys and walk away, knowing that my place will be clean, tidy and safe when I return.“
