Fitted Media Wall Designed for Everyday Living
We designed, built and installed this fitted media wall for a kitchen-diner in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire. The client wanted a clean, built-in feature that worked with the existing kitchen layout. As a result, we built a bespoke media wall with integrated storage, a TV recess and soft LED lighting. Everything was designed around how the client used the space, without looking out of place.
Media Wall Framework & Build Process
Every custom media wall starts with a solid framework. We build the structure using timber or metal studwork, depending on what the project requires. We then line it with plasterboard or cement board.
Getting this stage right is key. It keeps everything straight and secure. At the same time, it allows us to plan cable runs, ventilation and TV positioning from the start. This helps to avoid problems later on and achieve a cleaner overall finish.
Fire-Safe Media Wall Construction
This media wall installation in Cambridgeshire included a fireplace, so we built the structure to meet current fire safety standards. We used non-combustible metal studwork along with cement board and FireLine plasterboard. This achieves an A1 fire rating.
As a result, the installation is safe and compliant while still delivering a modern built-in TV wall. We always take this approach when working with heat sources. It ensures the wall performs properly over time.
Fitted Storage & Oak Joinery
To bring warmth into the space, we finished the wall with solid oak joinery. This included made-to-measure cupboard doors and trim. We fitted concealed ride-and-hide hinges so the doors sit flush when closed. At the same time, they remain easy to use day-to-day.
Now, the storage blends in with the existing kitchen-diner rather than standing out. This is a key part of creating a media wall with storage that feels built in.
LED Lighting & Final Details
We installed LED lighting within the shelving and around the TV recess. This provides practical lighting when needed. At the same time, it softens the overall look in the evenings.
Small details like this make a noticeable difference. They help lift a bespoke media wall beyond just a functional feature.
