How Your Personalised Wooden Gift Is Made
Every personalised wooden gift we create begins with a hand-selected piece of solid oak, sourced locally from our FSC-certified timber merchant. For select designs, like our framed chopping board, we also use beautiful sapele hardwood to add contrast and character.
Each product is handmade to order in our Cambridgeshire workshop. We start by cutting the raw timber to size with a mitre saw, then plane and table-saw each board to the exact dimensions. Every curve, edge and engraving is precisely machined using our CNC router. We program the CNC via V-Carve software to ensure flawless execution, from handles and juice grooves to custom text, icons, or even pet portraits.
Once engraved, the wood is carefully sanded and finished with a food-safe oil. Some products, like our engraved serving trays and chopping boards, are filled with clear food-safe resin for a smooth, hygienic surface. Our pet portrait plaques use black resin for high-contrast detail. Resin work is left to cure for at least 24 hours before the final finishing touches.
Functional details matter too. Signs and plaques include pre-installed keyhole brackets for easy hanging, and our floating shelves are routed to fit our hidden brackets for a seamless look.
Before dispatch, we personally inspect every item. We checking that corners are rounded, handles are easy to grip, engravings are smooth and flat, and there are no sharp or rough surfaces.
Finally, each gift is packaged with care using eco-friendly materials and all of our packaging is fully recyclable. We use recycled cardboard boxes, paper bubble wrap, shredded paper fill and kraft tape. Every order includes an FSC-certified care card with instructions on how to maintain your handcrafted wooden gift for years to come.
