Rear Kitchen Extension & Full Interior Fit-Out
Seamless Extension Build & Renovation
March, Cambridgeshire
We delivered a full rear extension and kitchen renovation in March, Cambridgeshire, acting as main contractor from demolition through to final finishes.
The project began in September 2025 and completed in February 2026. Over that time, we removed the existing rear kitchen extension, rebuilt the structure from the ground up and coordinated multiple trades to deliver a seamless, high-quality result.
By managing every stage carefully, we ensured the client experienced a smooth and well-organised renovation.

Demolition & Site Preparation
Every successful extension begins with clear planning and safe preparation.
First, we removed the existing kitchen extension and bay window, this allowed us to prepare the area properly for the new build.
Next, groundworks began. Footings were dug and poured by the ground worker, and a new waste pipe was installed. From there, we installed a block and beam floor system to create a strong and stable base for the extension.

Structural Build & Trade Coordination
As main contractor, we coordinated each specialist trade at the right time.
A bricklayer completed the external brickwork and coping stones. Then scaffolding went up so the parapet wall could be brought up to height safely and efficiently.
Structural steelwork was installed by a qualified engineer to support the new opening and roof structure. Once the steels were in place, we constructed the timber roof framework.
Throughout this stage, we oversaw sequencing, safety and quality control.

Roof Construction & Insulation
With the structural framework complete, we focused on the roof. We laid ply boarding, installed 100mm insulation and then added a second layer of ply. This created a solid, insulated base ready for the warm roofing system.
The roofer then completed the external roof finish, ensuring weather protection and long-term performance.

Interior Fit-Out & Finishing
Once the structure was finished, attention turned to the internal transformation.
We fit the new kitchen and utility room, ensuring accurate installation and clean detailing throughout. In addition, we laid a herringbone wood floor to bring warmth and character to the space.
Meanwhile, plumbers, electricians and decorators completed their specialist work under our supervision.
The result is a cohesive, well-finished interior that reflects both craftsmanship and careful planning.

Main Contractor Oversight
This extension required multiple trades, structural elements and detailed interior work. However, by acting as main contractor, we provided a single point of responsibility throughout.
We:
- Scheduled and coordinated specialist trades
- Managed structural sequencing
- Oversaw quality control
- Maintained clear communication with the client
- Ensured the build progressed smoothly
Renovations can feel overwhelming. Therefore, our role was not only to build but to manage the process professionally and reduce stress for the client.
