This bespoke handcrafted oak porch was designed to enhance the home’s entrance with strength, beauty, and heritage craftsmanship. Built from green oak using time-honoured joinery techniques, it delivers both long-lasting performance and timeless character. A true reflection of Cambridgeshire craftsmanship.
Joinery and Material Selection
We crafted this porch from 150 × 150 mm green oak, a material prized for its natural strength and rich texture. Each component was hand-selected for consistency and grain quality, ensuring the finished structure will age beautifully while maintaining its structural integrity for years to come.
Traditional Framing Techniques
In keeping with classic joinery methods, we built the structure using mortise-and-tenon joints secured with drawbore pegs. This traditional approach enhances strength and allows the oak to expand and contract naturally. The result is a stable, authentic frame that perfectly complements the home’s style.
We also crafted detailed rafters and fascias to mirror the property’s existing roofline, creating a seamless architectural finish.
Pre-Assembly & Delivery
To ensure perfect alignment and quality, we pre-assembled the complete oak frame in our Cambridgeshire workshop. This allowed us to run inspections and make corrections before delivery. When everything passed our checks, the porch was sent ready for installation. The result is a beautifully crafted entrance that stands the test of time.
