At KMP Carpentry & Joinery, we combine over 45 years of hands-on experience with modern CNC precision to create bespoke joinery, custom carpentry and personalised wooden pieces.

Our carpentry and joinery services are based in Cambridgeshire, where we work on fitted projects, home upgrades and made-to-measure furniture.

Console Table & Acoustic Panelling

A customer wanted to elevate the look and sound of their living room with a stylish but practical upgrade. We built oak-faced acoustic panelling designed to sit behind their TV, improving both the acoustics and the overall feel of the room.

To complete the space, we crafted a custom console shelf in oak veneer with solid oak edging and black sapele legs. This provided additional storage and a place to display décor.
The combination of acoustic panelling and modern oak furniture has become a popular living-room feature, offering both practicality and style.

Chip Shop Table Tops

A local business in Ely needed four outdoor table tops with umbrella holes, sized specifically to fit bases they already had. We made the tops from softwood (pine), a durable, affordable and easy-to-maintain material for outdoor use.
A straightforward but thoughtful joinery project that helped refresh their outdoor space without requiring brand-new furniture.

Custom Carpentry Across Cambridgeshire

Recent Carpentry Projects

Softwood Gate Replacement

A homeowner needed to replace two front-garden gates that had completely rotted. We designed, built and installed two matching softwood (pine) gates, ready for the customer to paint in a colour that matched the rest of the fence.
Sturdy, practical and tailored to the exact measurements. It was a simple upgrade that makes a big difference to day-to-day use and kerb appeal.

Howdens Kitchen Fitting

For this project, we removed the customer’s old kitchen and fitted a brand-new one supplied by Howdens. This included installing oak-laminate worktops and ensuring appliances were safely fitted with help from a qualified electrician and plumber.

To finish the space, the customer requested two bespoke floating shelves (one plain and one personalised) designed to fit a specific wall and match their new kitchen aesthetic. These shelves were built in our workshop and installed on-site.

Bespoke Floating Shelves (Plain & Personalised)

As part of the kitchen redesign mentioned earlier, the customer wanted two bespoke floating shelves that were deeper and thicker than our standard design.

Using the CNC, we cut the shelves to exact measurements and prepared them with clean, precise edges. One shelf remained plain; the other was personalised through engraving. The backs were routed to fit hidden brackets, giving a true floating appearance once installed.

Pet Portrait Plaque (Memorial Piece)

One customer asked us to create a memorial plaque for their dog, Mayo, using their favourite photograph. We engraved the portrait and name into solid oak with detailed CNC precision and finished the piece with a keyhole bracket for easy, secure hanging. A meaningful commission that shows how personalised wooden pieces can carry real sentiment.

Large Live-Edge Oak Plaque

This project began with a customer supplying their own stunning but uneven live-edge oak slab, complete with deep cracks and fragile sections. They also provided the quote, font and layout they wanted engraved.

We stabilised the slab using several layers of resin, flattened it carefully for engraving and finished it with Danish oil to enhance the grain and colour. The final result preserved the natural character of the live edge while giving the customer the bold, clean engraving they envisioned.
